“Better Bootcamp has become the BEST Bootcamp. I have attended many bootcamps in Vancouver and this one far exceeds them all.  Rob and Andrew put a lot of focus on proper form and posture while putting you through an intense workout.  It's only week two and a friend commented that I look taller, which is, of course, due to my improved posture.

FAQs
How do I decide how often to participate?
Choose what is right for you. The best session to sign up for is one that you have no conflicting commitments.  Your attendance in the bootcamp will determine the rate of your fitness success. If you pick a class that works with your schedule and either bring a friend or make a friend in class, you are more likely to show up, even on the days it is difficult to get there.

Can I miss/skip a class and make it up?
Unfortunately we do not allow you to move to another time slot as most classes are at capacity.

What and when should I eat before the class?
Eat something small and healthy. Be sure to drink a big glass of water before you join us waterfront in Coal Harbour as well. If you would like more information about diet and nutrition, please contact our dietitian, Crystal Dow at 778-834-5247. For more information, check out our article Pre-Workout Food, by Lachlan James.

What and when should I eat after the class?
When you feel ready, ideally within 30 minutes, the ideal source of protein to eat after your workout is a simple protein powder shake.  In a post workout state where the heart rate is elevated and gastric emptying has slowed down, some may find it difficult to digest a solid protein such as egg whites, fish, chicken, etc.  A protein shake will be digested by your body much quicker than a whole food because your body does not have to work as hard to break it down. After your workout carbohydrates are also an extremely important part of your post workout nutrition. Carbs will be used by your body to restore muscle glycogen. If your post workout meal doesn't contain carbs, your body may actually instead break down muscle tissue for this same purpose. Carbs also create an insulin spike which helps to move nutrients into your muscle tissue quicker. The best type of carbs after a workout are those with a high GI as low GI carbs can effect the gastric comfort of the athlete, as appetite is typically suppressed immediately post workout. If you would like more information about diet and nutrition, please contact our dietitian, Crystal Dow at 778-834-5247.

When is the best time of day to workout?
There is the belief that the best “fat burning” time to workout is first thing in the morning. We believe the  best time of day to work out is when it convenient for you! If you are a person who likes to get your day off to a great start with exercise, our morning class is perfect for you. On the other hand if you need to get to work, accomplish a solid morning of work and then take a well deserved mental and physical break, then join us at lunch for an energizing workout that will pump up your afternoon.  If the work day is too crazy and you can’t make a workout and shower work mid-day, work off the stress of your day with an after work-out and feel great knowing that you have a fresh start to your evening with a clear mind and healthier body.

Do I have to be fit to join Better Bootcamp Vancouver?
We design each class so that everyone can participate at their own level. We don’t leave anyone behind nor do we challenge you past your physical capabilities. As you get more fit, we increase the intensity so that we can progress and build on your success.
